Make Money And Traffic With 20 Article Directories

A lot of bloggers get very enthusiastic over the benefits of writing articles. These they then publish in one, or several, article directories and doing this, they claim, gets them lots of traffic.

In view of this I have listed below 20 Article Directories where you can publish articles. I also did another list quite a while back of 40 Article Directories

These directories are also places where you can obtain free content for your blogs, but personally I wouldn't go down this route. It's much better to produce your own original stuff for various reasons.

For those, who may not know, traffic from articles comes from the footnote and link which you can publish following your masterpiece.

There are hundreds of article directories so, with the twenty I have listed, I have also included their PageRank. Quality backlinks may help with search rankings and your own PageRank.

There are also several websites such as Helium whereby you can earn cash from your articles. Most of these, however, don't allow links to your own blog or website. So it's a choice of cash or traffic. As a trial with Helium I have built up a balance of $21.59 with just two articles.

Money Making Weekly Report - Week 50

I'm now at week 50 of my Money Making Mission. The aim being to try and make money using only free blogs and without any capital outlay.

I'm a little bit excited today!

It's now 8.45pm here in the UK and my celebrity blog has already received 9787 hits today!

This is mainly because of my posts on Sarah Larson, two of which were 'exclusive' to the blog - at least at the time they were published.

Below are money making programs I am currently promoting - in alphabetical order, with a few comments.

AdSense $647.93
As most bloggers know AdSense works just fine, providing you comply with their rules. They pay out on time. I get my money paid straight into my UK bank account, so no problem with the amounts being in USA dollars. All you need to succeed are lots of visitors to your blog.

Amazon UK £5.47 ($10.90)
The context links seem to be working okay, at least in part, I had 70 clicks yesterday for example. Unfortunately though, for the week, there were only 3 orders and these paid minimal commission - 92p ($1.84)

As I mentioned last week a lot of the problem, as far as making money is concerend, is that my links are for Amazon UK and a lot of my visitors are from USA and the rest of the world - who are unlikely to place an order on a UK website.

AuctionAds $30.13
Not too happy with AuctionAds at the moment. I keep getting blank spaces, where ads are supposed to be, or no auction details shown. This is isn't good enough. I'll persist until next pay out but will have to place the ads in not so prominent positions. My CTR is only 0.32% which, again, isn't good enough.

Convergence Inc $156.60 (over 18's only)
Didn't promote this last week. Adult only products. They provide a free website - providing you can find a way to market it. Not suitable, for example, on this blog. They pay out on time and also small amounts. I've had checks sent to me as low as $3.50.

DIY Dating £72.99 ($145.25)
DIY also offer a free dating website with choice of designs and content plus use of their massive database. Has possibilities.

FriendFinderGroup $714.77
I don't seem to be doing quite as well with FriendFinder recently. A well run affiliate program though. For instance I had a query last week and they answered within 24 hours. Over 20 websites to promote ranging from Christian and Jewish friendship to Adults and Bondage! Caters for most interests.

Helium $13.85
I like this site but you have to be prepared to write quite a few articles to earn anything worthwhile. I haven't had the time to do this.

myLot $60.00
Haven't been on their website over the last week, again haven't had the time.

PayPerPost $280.83
It runs efficiently as far as I'm concerned. Money is paid for sponsored posts 30 days after being published and on time. I wouldn't, but it's now possible to write up to three sponsored post per day - subject to conditions.

Sexy Ads $322.73 (over 18's only)
A well run, efficient affiliate program - if suitable for your blog!

You Gov £52.00 ($103.00)
Genuine survey company - want more panel members in UK, USA and the Middle East.

Miscellaneous $576.65
From such things as links, sponsored blogs, adverts etc.

Total $3559.97

I've also made money from Commission Junction, Cashlinkr, Daytipper, but no longer promote these.

Missionary Travel Built On Christian Principles

I always like a success story, which has small beginnings, and this is the case with Golden Rule Travel.

Money Making Weekly Report - Week 47

I'm now at week 47 of my Money Making Mission. The aim being to try and earn money, using only free blogs and without any capital outlay.

Below are programs I am currently promoting - in alphabetical order, with a few comments. As I said last week I have now removed Adbrite, Autograph Dealer and IcePosters from the list as I wasn't having any success with them. I'd like to find replacements for these - especially for use on my Celebrity Blogs.

Not a lot to add. They have notified me that $253.09 has been sent to my bank account, so should be with me next week. A good, faithful advertising program - though I have been getting some obscure ads from them for my celebrity blogs.

Amazon UK £4.34 ($8.64)
No success here but, there again, I haven't been pro-active with promotion. As with most things you only get out what you put in.

It ticks along, nothing too exciting. My click rate is low at just 0.42%.

Convergence Inc $156.60 (over 18's only)
Adult only products. They provide a free website - providing you can find a way to promote it. Not suitable, for example, on this blog.

DIY Dating £72.99 ($145.25)
DIY offer a free dating website with choice of designs and content plus use of their massive database. Has possibilities.

FriendFinderGroup $693.96
My top earner. No problems, commission paid regularly (when over $50). Over 20 websites to promote ranging from Christian and Jewish friendship to Adults and Bondage! Caters for most interests.

Helium $13.27
I keep saying I like this site but you have to be prepared to write quite a few articles to earn anything worthwhile.

myLot $59.55
Just haven't been to the website. When I started blogging I found it very useful for making contacts and getting referrals. Not a big earner as it's too time consuming to make money.

PayPerPost $203.83
This is going well at the moment. I also have $99 of sponsored posts waiting to be approved. Payments made on time (once the posts have been on the blog for 30 days).

I'm now at week 44 of my Money Making Mission. The aim being to try and earn money, using only free blogs and without any capital outlay.

Cumulative earnings are: $2887.54. Below are programs I am currently promoting - in alphabetical order.

Adbrite - Nil
I have resurrected Adbrite and I'm giving it another try on one of my celeb blogs. I have previously earned money from them, which is included in my cumulative total, but stopped promoting them as I found AdSense worked better for me. Times change so I'm using one blog as a test.

AdSense $521.72
One of the reasons I thought I'd give Adbrite another go was because I've been disappointed with my AdSense commission over the last few weeks. I still like AdSense though and intend to carry on with them.

Amazon UK £4.16 ($8.32)
Nothing much to report.

AuctionAds $23.80
A little more commission but their ads don't seem to always appear on my blogs - supposedly because of AuctionAds success. They developed quicker than expected but need to get this sorted. I've noticed that when their ads don't appear it makes the blogs side column slow to load - which is annoying.

Autograph Dealer Nil
Not a thing as yet, had a lot of page impressions but it's the commission I want. Will most likely ditch this when current ads disappear.

Convergence Inc $142.60 (over 18's only)
Adult products and I haven't been very active in promoting them for the last six to eight weeks - so no commission. You only get out of affiliate programs what you put in.

DIY Dating £65.52 ($131.04)
They offer a free dating website with choice of designs and content plus use of their massive database. Has possibilities.

FriendFinderGroup $671.52
My top earner. No problems at all, commission paid regularly (when over $50 due). Over 20 websites to promote ranging from Christian and Jewish friendship to Adults and Bondage! Caters for most interests.

I like Helium. If I had the time I'd write a lot more articles for them.

IcePoster Nil
No luck here. I'll persevere for a little longer as it should go with my celeb blogs.

Pay out okay, but very time consuming to make any 'proper' money.

I've done another three sponsored posts for them recently, waiting for approval so haven't added the amounts to my total. No problems and they pay out on time, as specified.

Well run affiliate program, lots of promotional material if you have the right site on which to promote their various websites.

You Gov £45.25 ($90.50)
Genuine survey and polling company. They want more members from UK, USA and the Middle East. Get paid for completing surveys.

I've also made money from Commission Junction, Cashlinkr, Daytipper, but I no longer promote these. Plus have received additional money from direct advertising and misc. revenue.

I'm now at week 42 of my Money Making Mission. The aim being to try and earn money, using only free blogs and without any capital outlay.

Not a very special week income wise, just over $60 - but every little helps, as someone or other said to someone. Also it's really best to look at money making results on a monthly basis.

Here are some of the money making programs I'm involved with, in alphabetical order.

It keeps on bringing in some money - a bread and butter moneymaker. I'm down on the 'highs' of $60-$70 per week that I've had in the past but I'm reasonably happy overall with AdSense.

Another 18p (36c) this week - quite dizzy at the thought! My Amazon aStore is: Blogging Good Blogs.

I've had to leave this as the same amount as last week as I can't get on their website at the moment. They've had a few problems because of the volume of business they have done - by problems I mean with their site, not with payments etc.

Haven't managed to get anywhere with this program. I'll leave it here though as there are a few ads still running on older posts and you never know in life.

Have just joined this affiliate program as I'm hoping it'll go with my celebrity blog. Early days as I've only had 75 clicks to the site so far. They have well over 200,000 images for photos or posters - mostly celebrities, movie stars, sports people etc. but also cars.

A good program for newbies who want a little commission and also, if used properly, can get traffic to blogs.

PayPerPost $40.02
I'm waiting approval of an $18.50 post, seems to take about 10 days.

Excellent friends and contact program for affiliates. Lots of sites to promote and good promotional materials.

A genuine survey and polls company. YouGov want more members from UK, USA and Middle East. UK residents get £1 for joining. For more info this post. Not a get-rich-quick scheme but it's possible to make a few extra pounds/dollars.

Additional blog income of $380.16 made from advertising and misc. revenue.

All in all I've made around $2730.

I'm now at week 41 of my Money Making Mission. The aim being to try and earn money, using only free blogs and without any capital outlay.

After a slow start the week picked up okay in the end. Not quite the mountain of hits to my celebrity blog as the previous week but it finished okay. I received checks / cheques for $90.39 through the post yesterday and also had £85 ($166) transferred into my bank account from Paypal for blog earnings.

Moving on to Search Engine Referrals.
An improvement this week with 944 referrals from the various search engines to this blog.

As for my new blog, Celebrity Insider - Photos & News, there were 2763 search engine referrals for the week. This takes the total for 47 days to 16545.

My stats for the celeb blog show that I've already had 33669 uniques and with reloads the total zooms up to 74239 - again this is for 47 days.

Top Referrals From Blogs can be seen in the side column.

As regards miscellaneous referrals the top ones for the week were Klik, MyBlogLog and 1000000 Links.

I'm now at week 40 of my Money Making Mission. The aim being to try and earn money, using only free blogs and without any capital outlay.

Most of the action seems to have been on my Celebrity Insider - Photos & News blog where, for the week, there were 11114 visits. This is a total of 30197 in 40 days since the blog started.

Here are some of the money making programs I'm involved with.

AdSense $434.96
Ticks along nicely without any problems, made about $60 this week from AdSense. Would have liked it to have been more, based on the number of visits I've had. Must try shifting things about a bit and maybe testing to see if Google Search would improve income.

Amazon UK £3.80 ($7.22)
Nothing to add from last week. My Amazon aStore is: Blogging Good Blogs.

AuctionAds $21.47
That's better, actually made some cash from AuctionAds over the last seven days. It's still tough going though as this has come from over 70,000 impressions, giving 590 clicks. This problem is giving their ads a good position. Would they perform better that Google in the same positions? I guess it means doing a few tests to find out.

Autograph Dealer Nil
Been in this for 10 days, had 12307 impressions which only gave 55 clicks - that's only 0.44%. Doesn't look too promising plus some of their affiliate functions don't seem to work properly - or perhaps I'm doing something wrong. Either way I'll be looking for an alternative.

Haven't given this much attention recently - it's all about 'adult' products. They offer a free website/shop to affiliates.

Additional blog income of $310.16 made from advertising and misc. revenue.

All in all I've made around $2500.

Moving on to Search Engine Referrals.
Only 571 referrals this week from the various search engines to this blog which is the lowest for ages. Must pay more attention to my keywords etc.

As for my new blog, Celebrity Insider - Photos & News, there were 5711 search engine referrals for the week! This takes the total for 40 days to 13782 which is 356 more than on Mike's Money Making Mission for 40 weeks.

My stats for the celeb blog show that I've already had 30197 uniques and with reloads the total zooms up to 67066 - again this is for 40 days.

Top Referrals From Blogs can be seen in the side column.

As regards miscellaneous referrals the top ones for the week were Klik, MyBlogLog and 1000000 Links.

I'm now at week 39 of my Money Making Mission. The aim being to try and earn money, using only free blogs and without any capital outlay.

This week I've again been concentrating on my new blog Celebrity Insider - Photos & News and it seems to have paid off, at least in the number of hits sense. Yesterday I had 2264 visits!

Here are some of the money making programs I'm involved with.

Slightly better this week made $70. I changed my ads about a little and the colours of the headings. However, the main reason for the improvement was probably the extra hits I had on my celebrity blog.

Amazon UK £3.80 ($7.22)
I tried a few ads last week on the celeb blog but nothing came from it (as yet). My Amazon aStore is: Blogging Good Blogs.

AuctionAds $4.58
Well I've actually made something this week. I joined on the 11th of June. There have been 50471 page impressions, which gave me 488 clicks i.e. less than 1%. Not convinced, as yet, that this is worth while.

Autograph Dealer Nil
I only joined this as an affiliate on Thursday as I thought it may compliment the celebrity blog. Time will tell.

It's the same as with the next couple of programs. It's that thing about juggling and keeping all of the balls up in the air. Because of my new blog I haven't had the time to do what I used to do to promote these three properly. I'm hoping though that the celeb blog will pay off over the next few months. I really need to do blogging full time!

DIY Dating £53.07 ($95.52)
Same as I said above. I did a recent post on DIY Dating, How To Make Money Dating. Briefly: They provide a free website and you choose format and sector of people you wish to include on your site from their database. Payout exactly as they say. Worldwide opportunity.

FriendFinderGroup $596.70
This one works! Affiliates can promote over twenty websites with one sign up. There is also a choice of ways to earn - either per click, by order or by percentage. They have always paid me regularly and as expected. I did a report on this program in January Money Making Test: FriendFinder Group.

Helium $11.26
This just keeps ticking along. I've only written two articles. Now if I'd written 20 I'd have probably made over $100. As I keep saying, I like Helium.

Again I haven't had the time to go on the site over the past week but, like Helium, it ticks by slowly on it's own.

I still can't find any suitable offers to write about for this blog. With the right subject matter and niche some bloggers have made decent money.

Additional blog income of $260.16 made from advertising and misc. revenue.

Moving on to Search Engine Referrals.
896 referrals this week from the various search engines to this blog. This takes the total received from this source to 12910.

As for my new blog, Celebrity Insider - Photos & News, This all went a bit mad last week. Yesterday, for example I had 2264 hits! I had an unbelievable (well at least for me) of 4209 referrals from search engines for the week.

My stats for this blog show that I've already had 19083 uniques and with reloads the total zooms up to 46049. For the last seven days there have been 7980 visits i.e. 1140 per day average. I just hope I can capitalise on this.

My Top Referrals From Blogs were published in a post yesterday.

As regards miscellaneous referrals the top ones for the week were Klik, MyBlogLog and 1000000 Links.

Money Making Weekly Report - Week 38

I'm now at week 38 of my Money Making Mission. The aim being to try and earn money, using only free blogs and without any capital outlay.

It's so easy to get distracted from the main objective of a money making blog - which is to make money! There's always a good excuse, of course. In my case I tell myself it's because of limited time for blogging and the fact that I have been concentrating on building my new blog Celebrity Insider - Photos & News. They are both true but somehow it's necessary to keep everything going and not lose track of why I'm actually blogging.

Anyway, here are some of the things I'm involved with.

I'm sure we all know about AdSense. It's improved for me since I started the new blog - but I'd still like a lot more. Must think about the ads positioning, the headline colours etc. and see what I can do to improve.

Amazon UK £3.80 ($7.22)
My Amazon aStore Blogging Good Blogs doesn't bring in much - perhaps that's because I don't promote it or Amazon books and products properly!

AuctionAds Nil.
As I said last week I joined this on June 11th but no income as yet - that's despite 31,002 page impressions giving 334 clicks. I'll continue for a full month but, if no cash forthcoming, the space will have to be put to better use. The ads are in the right hand column, towards the bottom of the page.

Cashlinkr $4.50

There are only a few places I can promote this, because of it's adult nature (adult products). They are efficient, however, pay on time and give affiliates a free website. If you can market the products there is enormous potential.

Same thoughts as last week. I don't see them as a realistic money maker. Nothing wrong with the website though.

I did a recent post on DIY Dating, How To Make Money Dating. Briefly: They provide a free website and you choose format and sector of people you wish to include on your site from their database. Payout exactly as they say. Worldwide opportunity.

FriendFinderGroup $593.15
This one works! Affiliates can promote over twenty websites with one sign up. There is also a choice of ways to earn - either per click, by order or by percentage. They have always paid me regularly and as expected. I did a report on this program in January Money Making Test: FriendFinder Group.


Helium $11.00
Another few more cents this week. As I said last week I like this website even though I've never done much with it. If you like writing lots of articles / reports I'm sure it could prove profitable.

myLot $58.15
Haven't had time to go on the site over the past week but made a few dollars from having introduced new members.

PayPerPost $40.02
They pay out fine but I can't find any suitable offers to write about for this blog. With the right subject matter and niche some bloggers have made thousands of dollars

Sexy Ads $287.76 (over 18's only)
Another excellent friends and contact program for affiliates. Lots of sites to promote and good promotional materials. I only bother to check my stats on a monthly basis.

You Gov £39.00 ($74.10)
A few more pounds this week. This is a genuine survey and polls company. They want more members from UK, USA and Middle East. UK residents get £1 for joining. For more info this post.

I've also made money from Commission Junction and Adbrite but no longer promote these.

Additional blog income of $240.16 made from advertising revenue.

No, I'm pleased to say, I'm well through the $2000 barrier.

Moving on to Search Engine Referrals.
833 referrals this week from the various search engines to this blog. This takes the total received from this source to 12,014.

As for my new blog, Celebrity Insider - Photos & News, I had 1403 search engine referrals for the last seven days and 5079 hits (average of 725 per day). This is really where my efforts have been concentrated over the week in my alloted blogging time.

A better than usual week mainly due to the additional number of visitors to my new blog, Celebrity Insider - Photos & News

Amazon UK £3.80 ($7.22)

AuctionAds Nil.
I joined AuctionAds on the 11th of June. No sign of any cash as yet. They show my stats as being 15,593 page impressions giving 186 clicks for the period since I joined. Still deciding if this is worth doing. You'll see their ads in this blog's side column.

Cashlinkr $4.50
As far as I'm concerned they didn't do as they said they would. So can't really recommend them.

Adult only products but when customers do buy they place decent sized orders. This won't appeal to lots of bloggers. I figured, however, that these sort of products are probably sold mostly over the Internet nowadays - because of the embarrassment factor. Convergence will set you up with your own website for free and they have always paid me out on time.

Say they pay $3 for tips but it's a heck of a wait to get the cash and I don't see them as a realistic money maker. Nothing wrong with the website though.

I like this! It's my biggest money maker from an affiliate program to date. They have lots of friends and contact sites to promote - with just one sign-up. Most interests within this market are covered from Church and Jewish websites to adult and webcams. They have always paid me regularly and as expected. I did a report on this program in January Money Making Test: FriendFinder Group.

Helium $10.74
A few more cents this week. As I said last week I like this website even though I've never done much with it.

myLot $57.76
In the past I have used this site for getting referrals to this blog. I haven't been to their site over the last week, mainly because it is time consuming to make decent money. One advantage is that you can sign up referrals to help with the income - this is why my total increased a little this week.

PayPerPost $40.02

Moving on to Search Engine Referrals.
There have been 992 referrals this week from the various search engines to this blog. This takes the total received from this source to 11,181.

As regular readers will know I started a new blog, Celebrity Insider - Photos & News, 19 days ago. The number of visits went mad yesterday when I had 1221 hits. To date I've had 6200 uniques and 14231 including reloads. Search engine's have sent 1213 referrals so far.

Though there have been lots of visits to Celebrity Insider I haven't really capitalised on this properly. This now has to be one of my priorities for the coming week.

Money Making Weekly Report - Week 36

I'm now at week 36 of my Money Making Mission. The aim being to try and earn money, using only free blogs and without any capital outlay.

A change of format this week but, as usual, I'll give the money making aspect first.

These are programs I am currently promoting together with how much I have made from them.

AdSense $265.98
The one that a lot of bloggers use for advertising on their blogs. It's worked okay for me - just don't break any of their terms & conditions!

Amazon UK £3.44 ($6.19)
I don't promote this very much but have an aStore called Blogging Good Blogs full of books on blogging, surprisingly enough! Had an order this week and made 37p (66c) - wow!

AuctionAds Nil.
As you will no doubt have read in my recent post I only joined AuctionAds on Monday of this week. No money as yet, but they show my stats as being 5298 page impressions giving 79 clicks. I'll have to see how this one works out. You'll see their ads in this blog's side column.

Moving on to Search Engine Referrals.
There have been 745 referrals this week from the various search engines to this blog. This takes the total received from this source to well over 10,000.

As regular readers will know I started a new blog, Celebrity Insider - Photos & News 10 days ago. I'm pleased at the way this has progressed. In the 12 days I've had 2866 uniques and 5862 visits including reloads. Better still is the fact that 1213 of the visits have come via search engines. Now all I have to do is make some money from the blog!
