Missionary Travel Built On Christian Principles

I always like a success story, which has small beginnings, and this is the case with Golden Rule Travel.

Golden Rule started back in 1985 with Marvin Mast working around his kitchen table on a part time basis. Times have moved on and they now have four locations and eighteen full time employees.

Marvin found an excellent niche with missionary travel as well as humanitarian and adoption international travel.

Golden Rule is built on Christian principles and the staff are former missionaries. They, therefore, fully understand the business of missionary travel.

They are dedicated to providing the best customer service possible. For example, they have cell phone numbers available so that clients can call the owner or general manager 24/7 in an emergency. Their website is headed with, 'Do to others what you would have them do to you' - Matthew 7:12.

There is a page of testimonials as backup to their claims.

Golden Rule say, 'We have the years of experience, the technology, the contacts, the contracts, and the dedication to customer service to give you the least expensive, most hassle-free travel possible.' You can't really ask for more!

Use The Right Money Making Bait

link baiting hookI'm going fishing.

I'm a vegetarian but I'm still going fishing after I've finished this post. I'll cast my bait and hope to pull in a few big juicy links.

I tried fishing with my Celebrity Insider blog on Wednesday and I reeled in a couple of big 'uns. The links sent me over 1200 hits with, hopefully, more to come.

I'm obviously talking about link bait or link baiting. It's where you write some sort of post on your blog that will entice other blogs to link to it.

There's all sorts of posts that might just work. Those experts tell us they come under such categories as:

News hooks:
Get in first with some news item relative to your niche.

Attack hooks:
This is where you write some strong stuff about someone, another blog or maybe a program.

Resource hooks:
You give out some useful information, preferably something not too well known.

Contrary hooks:
Being controversial can generate a buzz. Depends if you want to say go head to head with an opposing opinion.

Funny hooks:
A humorous story, an amusing cartoon a funny fact etc. I saw one the other day which seemed to have worked for the guy concerned. The title was Cooking With Viagra and was directed at women who want ... well use your imagination. As there were recipes it got links from others.

There are lots of other categories. It simply has to be something that you think might be of value to others.

The post I did on Wednesday was: Exclusive - Was Sarah Larson A Go Go Dancer.

Sarah LarsonYou may not have heard of Sarah Larson but she is George Clooney's new girlfriend - but none of the websites actually knew who she was. They mostly said she was an actress and model - blogs often play follow the leader.

An actress or model is usually easy to trace and it got me thinking as to why the big guys hadn't any info on her.

I did some investigating and found out who I thought Sarah Larson might be. I wrote a shortish post, with substantiating photos, and used the word 'Exclusive' in the title.

On Thursday the post got picked up by a couple of biggish websites and the hits started to come in from these sources.

Now in the world of celebrities it's difficult to get on the first Google results page with a big name such as George Clooney. There's too much competition from established websites, magazines, national newspapers and so on. But if you have something that might just be 'exclusive', about something associated with the star, then there is a voracious appetite for such items.

So I'd suggest, if you aren't already doing so, you try some fishing yourself in whatever river runs through your blog niche.

If you are successful any links you get will be of more value than going down the exchange link route. Give it a try.

Good fishing,
Mike.

A Free $25 From AuctionAds

This looks to be a good offer and an enticement to sign up with AuctionAds, if you haven't already done so. In their own words:

"We are offering an instant $25.00 balance to all new publishers who sign up for Auction Ads!"

And to emphasise the point again they go on to say:

"New publishers just need to sign up and they will receive a balance of $25.00 automatically."

There's not a lot more to say about the offer as it is pretty straightforward. It simply means that new affiliates will be half way to the payout amount of $50 as soon as they join.

I'm sure that regular readers know all about AuctionAds but just in case you'll see their ads in the side column of this blog. To make money you simply place ads on your blog, using the code provided. Money is then made on the following basis:

"When your site's visitors click on an Auction Ad listing and take an action on eBay you earn cash. Actions are defined as a Winning Bid, a Buy-it-Now or a confirmed user registration. AuctionAds is committed to paying out a minimum of 100% of eBay commission revenue. See eBay's affiliate program for details on the payout."

A second source of income can be made from introducing new members to the program - you earn a bonus 5% of all revenue generated by that user for the 6 first months.

Payments are made via PayPal.

As I understand it AuctionAds are compatible with all other ad systems such as Google Adsense.
I'm not 100% convinced that this will be a big earner for the average blogger but, in saying that, with a 'free' $25 bonus it must be worth a go. Even if it takes a few months to earn the other $25 (to reach the $50 pay out figure) it's extra money. If it's slow simply drop the program once you receive your first payment.

More info here.

Good luck,
Mike.

Make Money As A Google Business Referral Representative

Cornwall map - townsI've spent most of the day walking along the Cornish cliffs which is always very uplifting. It hasn't unfortunately left me much time for blogging so a quickie - for want of a better word - today.

This is for American readers. Have you seen that Google are wanting Business Referral Representatives throughout the USA?

The idea is that, as a rep, you'll visit local businesses to collect some specified information and also take a few digital photos. All of which which will appear on Google Maps. This is then all submitted to Google and they will pay up to $10 for each lot of verified info.

Payments are made monthly providing earnings are at least $25.

Google say they are ' focusing on small businesses across the United States, helping connect them with potential customers in their communities.'

It all sounds interesting enough and could be a way of making some extra money. Obviously it's necessary to read the Terms and Conditions etc. to see if it all works in practice.

There's more info here and here.

Good luck,
Mike.

Money Making With Amazon Context Links

I've started a trial to see if Context Links can help me have more success with earning money with Amazon.

I've always stayed away from this sort of thing because when I read a blog myself I don't like boxes popping up all over the place. I'm actually trialling the Amazon Context Links on my Celebrity Insider - Photos & News blog.

On first look it doesn't look too evasive but first, in case you are not sure what context links actually are, this is how Amazon briefly describes them:

'Context Links - You create the content. We'll link it. Earn referral fees without having to manually build links. Context Links automatically identifies and links relevant phrases to Amazon products in the content you create.'

As you can see below the link, in this case 'Amy Winehouse', looks exactly like any other link on the blog. The only difference is that when the cursor is held over the link a box pops up, as shown in the example, giving details of an Amazon product relevant to the link - in this case an Amy Winehouse CD.

The pop up box can be styled and there is a choice of colours etc. The maximum number of links per page can also be specified.

It's all straight forward to set up with a simple code to enter within the blog's HTML immediately before the "/body" tag.

Of course the real nitty gritty is to whether this can earn any money. I must admit to having reservations about this.

The draw back with Amazon, as I see it, is that there are several websites i.e. USA, UK, German, French, Japanese and Canadian. As I'm with the UK website prices are in UK £ pounds so this will put off 75% of visitors and reduces greatly the potential.

I'll see how I get on and if the number of Amazon clicks I get weekly increases and, more importantly, if the clickers actually order.

We shall see.

Good luck,
Mike.

Remembering August 2007

I'd like to say thanks to the Top Five Blogs who referred traffic for the month of August. A couple of changes from normal - thanks also to all other referrers as well.

Top Five Blog Referrers

(1) Fair Review
(2) The Gospel According To Rhys
(3) Blog About Your Blog
(4) Active Duty Military Money and Matters
(5) Million Dollar Experiment Down Under

I have mentioned all of the above previously. My number one featured in a recent post Fair Review Referrals Linger Longer. Visitors from this blog are still staying for over 16 minutes, on average, which I consider excellent.

Second in the Staying Longer Stakes are visitors from Money Money Money who is my 15th top referrer.

The Top Five Search Engine's for referrals for August were (1) Google (obviously), (2) MSN, (3) AOL, (4) Yahoo and (5) Search. Hits from AOL stayed over 4 minutes longer than from other search engines. Is there a message here?

August's Top Keywords were (1) zlio, (2) charley uchea, (3) mikes money making mission, (4) mikes money making and (5) 2.5 million rivets. I wrote about 'strange' keywords in the post Unexpected Keywords For Money Making.

The Charley Uchea visitors (she was a girl in UK's Big Brother television series) soon went again. I mentioned her briefly a while back and obviously money making wasn't on their minds!

For last month 48% of visitors arrived from search engines, 29% from referring websites and blogs and 23% came direct.

As regards money making this can be seen in my last Money Making Report.

The most popular landing page, other than the current page, was for the post Lots Of Ways On How To Make Money, which was posted back in May before I went on holiday.

And ...

No, I think that's enough figures for now.

Hope August was kind to you and September will be even kinder.

Good luck,
Mike.

Money Making Weekly Report - Week 47

I'm now at week 47 of my Money Making Mission. The aim being to try and earn money, using only free blogs and without any capital outlay.

Below are programs I am currently promoting - in alphabetical order, with a few comments. As I said last week I have now removed Adbrite, Autograph Dealer and IcePosters from the list as I wasn't having any success with them. I'd like to find replacements for these - especially for use on my Celebrity Blogs.

AdSense $562.52
Not a lot to add. They have notified me that $253.09 has been sent to my bank account, so should be with me next week. A good, faithful advertising program - though I have been getting some obscure ads from them for my celebrity blogs.

Amazon UK £4.34 ($8.64)
No success here but, there again, I haven't been pro-active with promotion. As with most things you only get out what you put in.

AuctionAds $29.73
It ticks along, nothing too exciting. My click rate is low at just 0.42%.

Convergence Inc $156.60 (over 18's only)
Adult only products. They provide a free website - providing you can find a way to promote it. Not suitable, for example, on this blog.

DIY Dating £72.99 ($145.25)
DIY offer a free dating website with choice of designs and content plus use of their massive database. Has possibilities.

FriendFinderGroup $693.96
My top earner. No problems, commission paid regularly (when over $50). Over 20 websites to promote ranging from Christian and Jewish friendship to Adults and Bondage! Caters for most interests.

Helium $13.27
I keep saying I like this site but you have to be prepared to write quite a few articles to earn anything worthwhile.

myLot $59.55
Just haven't been to the website. When I started blogging I found it very useful for making contacts and getting referrals. Not a big earner as it's too time consuming to make money.

Write sponsored posts on your blogPayPerPost $203.83
This is going well at the moment. I also have $99 of sponsored posts waiting to be approved. Payments made on time (once the posts have been on the blog for 30 days).

Sexy Ads $322.73 (over 18's only)
A well run, efficient affiliate program - if suitable for your blog!

You Gov £50.00 ($100.00)
Genuine survey company - want more panel members in UK, USA and the Middle East.

Miscellaneous $463.68
From such things as links, sponsored blogs, adverts etc.

Total $3256.95

I've also made money from Commission Junction, Cashlinkr, Daytipper, but no longer promote these.

That's all for this week, thanks for reading this post.

Good luck,
Mike.
